Why Choose Meadowthorpe

Our Cottage-Style Community Keeps Seniors Safe & Happy in 8-Person Social Pods

“Unlike other facilities, our 8-resident cottages offer
a unique solution to the pandemic…”

Every day, someone considering Meadowthorpe asks the question “Is it safe?”

And it’s a good question because seniors are one of the most vulnerable groups to COVID-19.

So deciding to move in to an assisted living facility right now can be excruciating.

COVID-19 has seniors in a lurch… anxious and unwilling to budge, despite needing help with their daily activities of living.

If you’re considering assisted living, SAFETY is probably a top concern.

8-Resident Cottage

Meadowthorpe’s Cottage-Style Community Keeps Seniors Safe in Social Pods

Social pods, also known as social bubbles, or a “quaranteam,” provide safety while doing more. ABC News described social bubbles in “How to Form a Social Bubble.”

“Social bubbles are a middle-ground approach that expands social interaction and contains risk by limiting exposure,” explained Melissa Hawkins, an epidemiologist at American University.

The concept is simple. Limit your social group and practice safe distancing with everyone else.

But social pods don’t exist in most assisted living facilities because they’re designed like a college dorm.

But Meadowthorpe is different…

Our community has 5 separate cottages with 8 residents each.

Our facility is unique in Lexington, offering social distancing and social pods unlike anywhere else.

But we didn’t plan our cottage-style community with a pandemic in mind.

We built cottages because they give seniors a small and familiar setting with all the comforts of home.

Seniors tell us that living in big buildings, bunking with strangers, doesn’t appeal to them… especially if they’ve lived independently for years.

“Highly Recommended for Anyone Looking into Assisted Living”

I absolutely love this place. They always have different activity’s going on for the residents and the staff is amazing! They go above and beyond to take care of their residents. I would highly recommend this for anyone looking into asssisted living!

Seniors LOVE our cottage-style community vs. the big, impersonal buildings elsewhere.

Meadowthorpe

The Other Guys

When seniors see our little community, they’re often surprised by how comfortable and inviting it is.

Moving to an assisted living facility doesn’t have to be a trade-off between “getting the help you need” and “safety.”

Once you see our community, you’ll know you can have both.

Extra Safety Features

On top of our social pods and cottage-style community, here are the actions we’ve taken to ensure the safety of our residents and staff at Meadowthorpe.

  • New residents are COVID tested before moving in.
  • Our caregivers are screened bi-weekly for COVID19.
  • Mandatory masks for all staff members.
  • Re-educated our teams on the appropriateness of infection prevention measures which are a part of how we operate on a daily basis.
  • Instituted additional cleaning and disinfection of all common areas with special attention to high-touch areas. All cleaning products are EPA-approved for use against the virus that causes COVID-19.
  • Implemented social distancing measures for all residents and staff.
  • Suspended planned or sponsored group outings (with the exception of healthcare-related visits).
  • Restricted visitors and non-essential health personnel from our communities, except in end of life situations or pursuant to the guidance of public health officials.
  • Conducting health screenings on all individuals coming into the community.

And to help our residents cope with possible feelings of isolation, we’ve rolled out some great high-tech ways they can be social over any distance. Our residents have access to video call apps like FaceTime, Skype, Zoom and more to help them stay in touch with family, loved ones or even their best friend next door.

“They have not wavered on their commitment to safety and keeping a positive outlook”

I am very impressed with the care and support that my uncle has received while living at Meadowthorpe Assisted Living. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the interactions that I have witnessed between staff and residents have been consistently caring and patient. The administrative staff sets a very professional and positive tone for all stakeholders in this community, and the facilities are very well maintained. My uncle has made friends among the staff, and even though the restrictions caused by Covid-19 have been very trying on everyone, they have not wavered on their commitment to safety and keeping a positive outlook. My impression is that this is a wonderful place to live and work.

“This place and the staff – from manager to caregivers- are exceptional!”

My Mom had the privilege of staying at Meadowthorpe. She has dementia and special dietary needs, but it was determined that it would be better for her to stay in the less restrictive Assisted Living area. Well, I would like to inform anyone considering Meadowthorpe Assisted Living, this place and the staff – from manager to caregivers- are exceptional.

Her caregivers were wonderful and the assisted living environment was the right match for her. She was active in the exercise programs and visits from her family and friends were welcomed and appreciated. Meadowthorpe provided the social interaction she needed and the staff members were warm and friendly and so kind to the residents. My mom was treated with love and respect.

“The rooms are beautiful and I liked them!”

Meadowthorpe Assisted Living’s rooms were lovely, but I didn’t tour at a time when the residents were participating in any activities.

I liked the apartments because they had individual sections for the kitchen, dining room, living room, and the bedroom and bathroom.

The rooms are beautiful and I liked them. They have outside gardens and a patio with rocking chairs and benches.

They have a breakfast bar with a lady who will fixes pancakes for you.

The place was really nice and I loved it.

“Very impressed with the staff quality, care, food, and the beautiful facility!”

Meadowthorpe has exceeded my expectations with my mother. When it was time to move her to memory care they placed her in the apartment with the same spatial orientation as her former apartment, took photos of her room and moved everything and brought in extra staff and placed her furniture, knick knacks and photos in the exact same place as her old rooms (even down to the order of her shoes in the closet), and made the transition as stress free for her as possible. I have been very impressed with the level of care, the quality of the staff, the atmosphere, the quality of the food and the beauty of the facility. And the rates are very reasonable. I keep waiting for “ the other shoe to drop!” 🙂

No Facility in Lexington Can Match Our Safe & Social Community

While other assisted living facilities scramble to retrofit their facilities with COVID safe practices, Meadowthorpe perfected the formula before the pandemic began.

If you’re considering assisted living, but you’re worried about safety, our cottage-style community is the answer. You won’t find the same “safe & social” community anywhere else.

“I thought it was excellent!”

My mom moved into Meadowthorpe Assisted Living & Memory Care. I thought it was excellent for the size of the apartment, for the type of amenities, for the staff to patient ratio, for the cost, and for the location.

“They do more than other assisted living places…”

My mother moved into Meadowthorpe Assisted Living and it has been excellent. The meals are above average, they do more than other assisted living places, and the caregiver ratio is better.

They have more activities throughout the day than any other place, too. The activities include yoga, exercise classes, making jewelry, painting, and more. There are four or five activities per day. They are very active.

They have at least one employee in each building at all times. There is also a button in the room that the family can call if they need to talk with someone who calls the attendant. The staff members with bathing and the bathrooms are wonderfully equipped and very safe. Anytime I call, the staff members are always receptive.
